DC Comics have announced a slew of titles as part of the new, revitalised Elseworlds line. There are a handful of totally new concepts, like the dark fantasy series Green Lantern: Dark, and even some spin-offs like Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter.
However, DC haven’t stopped there. In fact, as part of their new lineup, they’ve gone back and revisited an old Elseworlds property. That’s right, the classic Brian Augustyne / Mike Mignola Batman book is getting a sequel with Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age.
What’s Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age About?
So far, details are scarce. However, we do know that the sequel to the original Gothic take on the Dark Knight will take the form of a 12-issue maxi-series.
Additionally, we can also infer from the title that Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age will tackle how Superman and his Kryptonian associates might factor in to the Victorian era narrative laid out in the first story.
DC’s official description of the series is as follows:
‘Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age expands the mysterious and gothic world created by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola beyond the confines of Gotham City, introducing DC’s greatest heroes as they come together for the first time to form a 19th-century Justice League. As they unite against the greatest threat the world has ever known, they will learn their world’s secret Kryptonian history.”

Is Mignola Back for Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age?
Still very busy, and seemingly incredibly satisfied, working on his Hellboy universe of titles, Mike Mignola will not be returning to draw this next chapter in Gotham by Gaslight.
Instead, a new creative team of Andy Diggle (Action Comics, The Losers) and Leandro Fernández (The Old Guard, American Carnage) will take the reins.
