DC All In Expands with 4 More New Series in November

Black Canary: Best of the Best #1 Main Cover Ryan Sook

Last month, DC Comics announced their new relaunch “DC All In”. The initiative would see a complete overhaul of the publishing line, with new series added, new creative teams on existing titles, and new story arcs made for new readers to jump on with long-running series.

However, the October announcements weren’t all. In November 2024, DC’s All In publishing line expands even further, with multiple new titles. We already know about titles like Justice League Unlimited, JSA and Milestone Universe: The Shadow Cabinet. Here are the 4 new titles that round out the line.

Black Canary: Best of the Best

Writer: Tom King

Artist: Ryan Sook

This series is a little bit of an outlier from the rest, as while it is releasing as part of DC’s All In initiative, it’s actually been in development since before Dark Crisis.

Following in the tradition of Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Black Canary: Best of the Best will follow Dinah Lance in an in-continuity story (albeit one very much in its own corner of the DCU) as she faces off against the best fighters on Earth. The full synopsis is as follows:

‘Black Canary faces her toughest opponent yet, Lady Shiva, in a battle to determine who is the single greatest hand-to-hand fighter in the DC Universe. To make it to the final round, Black Canary will need all her fighting skill and ability, plus additional training from some of DC’s most accomplished fighters, including Batman, Wildcat, and even her mother, the original Black Canary!’

On the series, and his collaboration with artist Ryan Sook, King had this to say: ‘I’ve been wanting to tell this story for a few years, and I’m really excited for fans to see what Ryan and I have planned for Dinah. He’s got the perfect art style for this series, and fans will feel every punch and kick thrown from the first issue to the finale.’

The six-issue series launches its first chapter on November 27th.

Batgirl

Writer: Tate Brombal

Artist: Takeshi Miyazawa

It’s time for an all-new Batgirl series – this time starring the third Batgirl, Cassandra Cain!

Debuting in the year of her 25th anniversary, Batgirl #1 will follow Cass – who’s recently soared as a fan-favourite member of the Birds of Prey series by Kelly Thompson, Leonardo Romero and others – as she tackles an onslaught of ninjas, family trauma and martial arts mayhem.

This will also be the first solo series that Cassandra Cain has had in 18 years, and what better way to celebrate that than by having Cass star alongside her League of Assassins affiliated mother, Lady Shiva.

Tate Brombal (House of Slaughter, The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos) and Takeshi Miyazawa (She-Hulk, Mech Cadet Yu, Silk) will bring the series to life, alongside a host of brilliant cover artists, in this new, ongoing series.

The Question: All Along the Watchtower

Writer: Alex Segura

Artist: Cian Tormey

Then, playing even more closely into DC All In’s wider narrative, comes The Question: All Along the Watchtower – a murder mystery set aboard the all-new Justice League Watchtower.

No stranger to crime and mystery stories, Alex Segura (Spider Society, The Black Ghost) is joined by modern DC alum Cian Tormey (Alan Scott: The Green Lantern, Superman: Son of Kal El) as Renee Montoya is tasked by Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to investigate a crime most foul. Someone’s been killed on board the Watchtower, and every member of the Justice League is a suspect.

Beyond the immensely exciting news that Renee Montoya will continue to get page time once Ram V’s Detective Comics run wraps, is the positive indication that DC All In will feature a wide range of genres of stories – not just your typical superhero action-adventure tales. With any luck, the success of The Question: All Along the Watchtower inspires DC to take even more risks with series outside of its usual set of genres.

Black Lightning

Writer: Brandon Thomas

Artist: Fico Ossio

Justice League members old and new are getting their due as part of DC All In, including classic Leaguer and previous leader of the Outsiders, Black Lightning!

Brandon Thomas (Aquamen, Aquaman: The Becoming) returns to DC Comics for this series, and he’s teaming up with fellow Infinite Frontier creator Fico Ossio (Action Comics, Mister Miracle: The Source of Freedom).

The announcement came with a mission statement for the series:

‘Black Lightning is back, and this time, it’s a family affair! Jefferson Pierce leads the Justice League’s new metahuman outreach initiative, helping those with powers before they can cause harm to themselves or others—but everything changes when its his own daughter, Anissa Pierce, who comes to him for help. With Thunder’s dangerous new powers and the new Masters of Disaster jeopardizing the coexistence between humans and Metas, Black Lightning is on the front lines of a culture war brewing in the suburbs of Metropolis!’

The pair of creators are embarking on a five-issue limited series – though if recent history is anything to go by, the strong pre-orders of titles like Green Arrow and Poison Ivy indicate that these five issues could always be extended, if fan support is there.

Black Lightning #1 debuts on Wednesday 13th November.
